This is an excellent idea. My kids get soooo much stuff at holidays and birthdays because of the number of relatives and friends that it is literally overwhelming the child and spoils them. Several Aunts and uncles now give savings bonds which will be greatly appreciated by my kids when they are older and right now while they are small, there is so much stuff that they don't miss anything.
